This week the FDA has released a warning that five more hand sanitisers have been found to contain methanol.
Methanol is a highly dangerous substance that can be toxic when absorbed into your skin or ingested. If exposed to methanol symptoms can consist of: nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, permanent blindness, seizures, nerve damage and in some cases death.
The sanitisers tested are labelled as containing Ethanol (also known as ethyl alcohol) but after further research and testing, have been established to contain Methanol.
