As we all start to venture out again to socialise with friends and family, it is our own responsibility to adopt the guidelines in place, to help ensure we stay safe and prevent a second wave.
So what can you do to help keep safe whilst socialising ?
- Whilst not always possible it is important to keep your distance as much as you can from other people. It is important to recognise the impact of standing or sitting too close to someone else.
- Keep your hands clean and avoid touching your face. This is something so basic but hugely effective. Continue to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water, and use hand sanitiser when you’re not near a sink.
- Keep indoor spaces well ventilated, when possible ensure an airflow through your house/workplace.
- If you have to travel somewhere i.e. work, to the shops or to take the children to school, be smart in your form or transport. Can you walk or cycle there? If not then try to use public transport at off peak times to avoid crowds.
- When outside your home cover your face with a face covering, whether this is a scarf, material mask or a face shield.
- Wash your clothes more regularly, viruses can stay on fabric for a few days, so once your clothing has been worn outside of your home, it is advised to wash them before wearing them again.
- Be mindful of the number of people you spend time with, although we are now able to go out to eat, drink and shop etc, we mustn’t assume everything is as it was before. It is advised to only meet with one other household at a time where possible.
- It is key to avoid direct contact with surfaces that have the most contact for example; door handles, light switches and lift buttons.
